Since 2011, Gianni Rigoni Stern has been coordinating the transhumance of Rendena cows from Italy to Srebrenica, in Bosnia. It is a remarkable project, born with the goal of helping a community restart after suffering the greatest genocide in Europe since the end of World War II. Over the years, along with the heifers, Gianni Rigoni Stern has delivered tractors, farming equipment, hay and, soon, even a dairy.
The children of Srebrenica call him Santa Claus.
